Animal Personality: Hi! My name is Matthau but my friends call me Matty. My foster parents named me Matthau after Walter Matthau because of his role in the movie Grumpy Old Men. At first I was rather offended but you know, after watching the movie again I can see their point! After all I am an old man, soon to be 9 yrs old and sometimes I do get a little grumpy like when my foster mom doesn't give me the love and attention I deserve. Let's face it, I've had a tough life. After spending nearly my entire life inside the comfort and warmth of my first home, I found myself wandering with a feral colony in early 2008, wondering where I was going to get my next meal. Luckily my foster mom and IAR found me and took me in and I don't have to worry about food and shelter anymore. Though I do think about food a lot -- yummy in my tummy -- is it time for lunch yet? I really am a rather nice kitty but I am older and a bit set in my ways. I am looking for someone with a big heart, big lap, and lots of love to give because I am a big boy -- 13 pounds! I have a lot of love to give, but I need someone who will be patient with my crotchetiness. Could you be the person for me? Just like Sophia Lauren saw through Walter Matthau's gruff exterior in Grumpy Old Men 2 to find true love, perhaps you and I are fated for each other. My foster mom thinks I am a bit like a diamond in the rough -- with the right conditions (and people) I am a beautiful and precious gem. Animal History: Matty came from a nearby county and had been abandoned by his previous owner. He has since had a complete makeover -- spa time and a thorough dental examination. He has melted the hearts of all he comes in contact with. He has been doing great ever since he moved into his foster home. Now, he wants a home of his own.
Special Needs: Matty is a fabulous grumpy-old-man cat. He can't get enough attention from the humans and will let you know if you're not petting him enough. He is in particular need of a home of his own because one of the resident cats in his foster home is beating up on him. It is becoming increasingly difficult for his foster family to give Matty the attention he craves while also keeping him separated from the resident cat.
