All About Me

For the first months that we cared for TomTom at his outdoor home, his fur was matted with mud and his eyes were so swollen that we could not see his true colors. After he came indoors, we were delighted to find that he is a Siamese mix kitty- a very handsome buff- orange tabby, with white vest and feet, and crystal blue eyes. His transformation is truly miraculous. When we took him back to visit his old friends, it brought tears to the eyes of a group of grown men.WATCH THIS VIDEO OF HIS TRANSFORMATION <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/143532361" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>

In spite of an incredibly difficult life, TomTom has charmed everyone he met along the way because of his upbeat personality and cheerful disposition. Now that is without pain and can see where he's going, he has a new spring in his step and has rediscovered the joys of being able to run and play. Since discovering how comfortable the sofa is, he is becoming more and more of a lap cat, and likes to park on his foster Mom's lap during TV or reading hours. He is a true gentleman who will brighten up anyone's day, and his ideal home would include a mellow and accepting cat for company.

History

TomTom is a tame kitty who found himself as a long term resident of an outdoor feral cat colony. An IAR volunteer started feeding the cats on weekends and it was clear that TomTom was not well, but his caretakers were not willing to let him go, as they had been told he had incurable dental disease and needed to be euthanized. They had cared for him for several years by feeding him wet food, soup and scrambled eggs. Finally last winter, Tom was no longer able to eat reliably and got weaker, so we were able to rescue him, fully expecting to have to follow through with that awful prediction. However, thanks to wonderful veterinary care, he made an amazing recovery over the last 6 months. He received extensive dental treatment which left him with healthy gums and a select few nice teeth. After healing from that, we discovered that his swollen eyes were due to his eyelids being turned inside out, causing extensive irritation. That was surgically corrected in September. His pictures show that he continues to heal and reshape the eyelids, and he really enjoys showing off his baby blues!
