Animal Name: Greta
IAR ID#: D-10-030
DOB: 2007-01-01 (3 year old)
Gender: Female
Animal Weight: 55 lbs.
Dog Breed(s): Bluetick Coonhound Mix
Physical Description: Greta is a beautiful, sleek and sporty hound dog. She has very soft and expressive eyes and ample sized ears that will draw an "awwww" from any dog lover out there!
Animal Personality: Greta is a very sweet young lady who seems to understand that she's been rescued. All she has to do is look up at us with those sweet, sappy eyes and our hearts just melt. Greta is settling in well to her foster home, and has made fast friends with the resident dogs and cats. She absolutely loves to lay on anything soft (especially the couch or our bed) and is learning basic commands, like "come", "sit", and "wait." In addition, Greta is crate trained, although she can become a little anxious when left alone. A home with another dog would be preferable for Greta. Greta's energy level appears to be fairly moderate, and she's actually gone jogging with us a couple times too! We think once she gets more settled in, she may actually be a good running companion! How many coon hounds have you seen running with their humans?! Ha! In all seriousness, Greta is a great dog. It's no mistake that a slight rearranging of the letters in "Greta" produces the word "great." With some trust, love and routine, Greta will undoubtedly be a best friend for life.

Animal History: Greta showed up on the doorstep of a Good Samaritan; skinny, scared and desperate to get into their home. The Good Samaritan contacted IAR and the next morning Greta found herself with an IAR volunteer on the way to the vet and then to her new foster home!
Health Information: Greta is healthy and ready for adoption!
Special: IAR views behavioral training as a critical aspect of helping our dogs adjust to their new homes. Jane Marshall of Cheery Dogs LLC donates behavioral support to help many of our dogs adjust to their foster homes, and all IAR dog adoptions come with a certificate good for a series of training classes with our training partner, Sunny Acres Pet Resort in Durham, NC.
Did You Know: Cats use their whiskers to determine if the space they are entering is big enough for them.
