Physical Description: Kim is a purbred Shar Pei. She has rolls upon rolls and wrinkles upon wrinkles. Puffy jowls and a tail that points in one direction only. She looks a little like a manatee!
Personality: Kim is a joy. She is playful -- even at almost 8 years old! She loves to have her back scratched and her head rubbed. She enjoys the company of the resident dog and will play tug of war or just hang out together. She adores her soft toys and will gnaw (noisily) on them or bring them to you for a game of fetch. She snores in the most adorable manner. She cooperates well for her baths and eye drops. She adores time in the fenced backyard, taking a walk, and going for car rides! She makes our household happy.
History: Kim was surrendered to IAR when owner became terminally ill.
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: No
Good with Young Kids: Unknown
Good with Older Kids: Yes
Health Information: Kim has many of the health issues typical to the Shar Pei breed. She has had her eyelashes fixed surgically so they no longer painfully scratch her eyes. She is blind in one eye but can see out of the other. She is prone to ear infections and skin fungal infections. She is on a limited diet and will see a dermatology specialist in early March to test for allergies. Kim needs baths/showers 1-2 times weekly.
IAR Sponsored Training: IAR subsidizes post-adoption professional training with Jane Marshall (www.cheerydogs.com) to encourage a life-long and successful bond between the dog and the adopter. Group classes for puppies and adult dogs are provided at a substantial discount to IAR adopters.
