IAR News and Events
May Adoption Events!
Stop by to meet IAR cats and kittens up for adoption at the Petsmart at Patterson Place and the Petco at South Square. They welcome visitors whenever the stores are open. Or come to one of our weekend adoption events and talk to foster parents and volunteers to learn more about our cat and dog adoption programs. This is also a great chance to learn about volunteer opportunities helping IAR’s dogs and cats. See you there!
Please see IAR Calendar for full listing of events.
Kitten Season Is Here! Funds Are Sorely Needed!

IAR has recently been receiving hundreds of calls each week about kittens and puppies in need across the triangle area. Thankfully, due to incredible dedication of our volunteers who live by the credo, ‘there’s always room for one more’, we’ve been able to save so many little lives. However, it is estimated that each kitten or puppy rescued will require approximately $150-$200 in veterinary and other necessary expenses, prior to adoption. Given the large number of kittens and puppies recently saved, we need to raise additional funds to help with their care. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation so that we can continue rescuing the animals that so desperately need us. The animals thank you, and as always, every single donated dollar goes directly to helping them. These five little sweeties, recently rescued by IAR, are among the many that will benefit from your donation. Please click here to help.
IAR Volunteer Wins Award!
Gina Pergerson, pictured here with Nicole Zandy and Jen Naylor, has just been awarded Blue Cross/Blue Shield’s Community Blue Award. Gina spends many hours each week working with various aspects of IAR, in addition to her 'day' job at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She is turning over her prize money -- $1500! -– to IAR. Thanks, Gina, for putting your money where your heart is!
Leonard Zandy Memorial Fund
IAR is extremely saddened to report the sudden passing of Mr. Leonard Zandy, father of IAR's president, Nicole Zandy. Tragically, Mr. Zandy died the day after Thanksgiving. He is survived by his wife Patricia Strickler Zandy, and his daughters Nicole Zandy, Kimberly Zandy, and Pamela S. Zandy.
The Zandy family is asking that donations be made to IAR in honor of Mr. Zandy.
If you would like to make a gift, you can donate in one of two ways:
1. Go to the donation section and pay through Paypal. Before you submit your donation, click on "special instructions to merchant" and note that this is for the Leonard Zandy Memorial Fund.
2. Mail your check for the IAR/Leonard Zandy Memorial Fund to IAR PO Box 14232, Durham, NC 27709.
